Description:

Works consist on the duplication of road AS-17. The section, with a total length of 3,294 m, begins in the north end of Cadaval Tunnel and ends in Riaño junction.

Next, main features of the Works are detailed:

Transversal section type of the highway’s segment is made of two way roads with two 3.50 m lanes in each one, with outer edges of 2.5 m and 1 m inner edge. Additional lanes are also included in the steep slopes of the road.

Road Surface: Section used for road trunk in the highway consists on 30 cm of bituminous layer and 25 cm of crushed gravel.

Viaduct VD-3: 15 m wide and 63 meters long with three spans of 20-23 and 20 meters. Transversal section is conformed by seven double T beams of 1,20 m edge and a 25 cm reinforced concrete slab.

Viaduct VD-4: 11.5 m wide and 404.5 meters long with nine spans varying from 39 to 45 meters.

Viaduct VI-3: 15 m wide and 69 meters long with three equal spans of 23 meters. Transversal section is formed by seven double T beams of 1,20 m edge and a 25 cm reinforced concrete slab.

Viaduct VI-4: 15 m wide and 138.5 meters long with four spans varying from 25 to 45 meters.

Overpass EC-3: Isostatic structure with one span of 35 m length.

Underpass PK 7+840: In an extension of the underpass already existing in Riaño junction. 10 meters wide and 5.5 meters high.

Retaining Walls: Along the layout there are 9 walls with 3 different typologies (rock fill, reinforced concrete and reinforced ground)

South Tunnel: New South Cadaval tunnel has a total length of 1,179 m. Works were carried out by blowing up and with mechanical means. Internal concrete covering is 30 cm wide.

North Tunnel: It is an extension on current Cadaval tunnel and has a total length of 805 m.

Earthworks: Approximately, 465.000 m3 are dug out and 285.000 m3 refilled.
